ionic bond is formed by the transfer of electrons frm a metal to a non-metal.. but.. covalent bond Is formed by sharing of electrons betn nonmetals

In ionic bond the metals lose electrons and the non metals gain electrons and it is a good conductor of electricity. E.G. Magnesium Chloride.
In covalent bond the electrons are only shared so it is generally a bad conductor of electricity. E.G. Methane.
