Isotopes have the same atomic number, while isobars have the same atomic mass. Isotopes : Isotopes are atoms that have same atomic number but different mass numbers. Isotopes have the same atomic number because the number of protons inside their nuclei remains the same.

Isotopes are the atoms of the given element having same atomic number but different mass number also they have the same nuclear charge but differ in the number of neutrons. For example isotopes of hydrogen .

Protium ,deuterium and tritium have same number of proton and electron but differ in neutrons.

Isobars are atoms of different elements having same mass number but different atomic number also the sum of the numbers of protons and neutrons are same .
