Kyohosis
- Kyphosis implies an increase or exaggeration of a backward or posterior curve or a decrease or reversal of a forward curve. It is also called round upper back. Depression of chest is common in Kyphosis.
- Caused by malnutrition, crowded areas, rickets, carrying heavy loads on shoulders, insuitable furniture, insufficient exercises, etc.
- Procedure:-
(i) From the beginning, they should teach appropriate posture of sitting,standing and walking to children.
(ii) Proper and adequate exercises.
- Remedies:-
(i) Always keep a pillow under your back while sleeping.
(ii) Bend your head backward in standing position.
(iii) Perform Dhanurasana, the yogic asana regularly.
Lordosis
- Lordosis is the inward curvature of spine.
- It is an increased forward curve in the lumber region.
- It creates problem in standing and walking. The body seems to be stiff.
- Causes:- Imbalanced diet, improper development of muscles, obesity and diseases affecting vertebrae and spinal muscles.
- Precautions:-
(i) Balanced diet should be taken.
(ii) Obesity should be kept away specially in early age.
(iii) The body should be kept straight while carrying weight.
(iv) Excessive intake of food should be avoided.
- Remedies:-
(i) Perform sit ups regularly.
(ii) Halasana should be performed regularly.
(iii) Toe touching exercise should be done for atleast 10 times.

Lordosis (also known as swayback) is when the lower back, above the buttocks, curves inward too much, causing the child's abdomen to protrude and buttocks to stick out. Kyphosis is when the upper spine curves too far outward, forming a hump on the upper back.
