Land is the solid part of the earth's surface. Our land is home to many unique plants and animals. The term 'land' includes all physical elements in the wealth of a nation bestowed by nature; such as climate, environment, fields, forests, minerals, mountains, lakes, streams, seas, and animals. To use our land wisely we have to understand soil.Soil is material in the top layer of the surface of the earth in which plants can grow. Our soil is a non-renewable resource. It takes ages for rocks to weather into soil and rich organic matter to build up. Our welfare depends, to a large extent, on our soil and climate. Entire civilisations can rise and fall depending on their soil quality.
