Land is the solid part of the earth's surface. ... Soil is material in the top layer of the surface of the earth in which plants can grow. Our soil is a non-renewable resource. It takes ages for rocks to weather into soil and rich organic matter to build up.

Answer:

Land is clearly different from soil.

Explanation:

  1. Land is the surface area of the earth which is not covered by water.
  2. Soil is a thin grainy layer which covers the land area, which is made up of organic matter, minerals and weathered rocks which are formed during the process of weathering.
  3. Land is used for several purposes such as agriculture, forestry, mining, etc.
  4. But for this land use, soil is essential, as:

        (a) Agriculture can only be done in soil.

        (b) Forestry can only be done if there are plants and trees.

    5. Soil requires 100s of years to be renewed.

These are the main differences between land and soil.

                                    My answer might help you.

                                             THANK YOU.
