in lateral surface area the except top and bottom all sides are involve and in surface are all sides are involve .

In lateral surface area the top and bottom of the figures like cuboid,cylinder,cube etc are not included.Only the four walls (only in the case of cuboid and cube) are included.On the other hand in the total surface area the areas of every face of the shape is included.
