let me explain it by an example
2^3 = 8
means log of 8 at the base 2 is 3
so if you are taking log of 10
log 10 at base a(I am considering a some constant) will give the power of a such that a^answer = 10
whereas log 10 at base e means
e^answer = 10
e is constant whose value is 2.72 approx
