Loksabha:-
- It is also called as lower house and is directly elected by the people of a country.
- Total elected representatives are 543 and two are nominated by the president.
- Makes, amends laws on union list, concurrent list, residuary list
- It has power over financial matters.
- Members are elected for period 5 years and house is dissolved every five years or earlier if required.
Rajyasabha
- It is also called as upper house and is indirectly elected from State legislature.
- Total members are 245 out of which 233 from State legislature and 12 nominated from different fields by the president.
- Can also initiate legislation. Every bill, passed by loksabha (except financial matter) has to pass through Rajyasabha to become a law.
- No such power.
- Permanent house ⅓rd member retired every two years so, every member has tenure of 6 years Election held in every two years.
