What is the difference between luminous and non- luminous bodies? Give one example each.

Luminous Objects: Luminous Objects are objects which exhibit light in their own.Examples: - Sun, flame of a burning candle   Non- Luminous:  Non- Luminous Objects are objects that reflect light from luminous bodies Examples: - moon, earth

  • Bodies which emit light on their own are called self-luminous bodies.
  • Self-luminous bodies can serve as light source.
  • For example, stars like sun.

◆ Non-luminous bodies -

  • Bodies which dont emit their own light are called non-lumnous object.
  • Non-luminous bodies cant be used as light source.
  • For example, planets like earth, mars.
