what is the difference between mass and weight?

Hello Mate,
There is a basic difference, becausemass is the actual amount of material contained in a body and is measured in kg, gm, etc. Whereas weight is the force exerted by the gravity on that object mg. Note that mass is independent of everything but weightis different on the earth, moon, etc.

1) Mass is a measurement of the amount of matter something contains, while Weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object.
2) Mass is measured by using a balance comparing a known amount of matter to an unknown amount of matter. ...
