mass of one atom is the actual mass of one atom of an element whereas mass of 1 mole of an atom is the mass of the number of atoms that would be present in 12 gram of a carbon 12

When we look at a periodic table of the elements, we can see that (Na) sodium has an atomic weight of 23. This means that a single atom of sodium possesses total 23 atomic mass units (AMUs), but it also means that one mole of sodium (Na) atoms weighs 23 grams.

Hence, according to this measurement 6.02 x 10^23 atoms of sodium weight a total of 23 grams.(in chemistry a "mole" of something means you have 6.02 x 10^23 items.)
