Meridian is related to the time of the day.  Greenwich GMT is at 0 deg. meridian.  Meridian is the full circle perpendicular to equator and containing north pole and south pole and passing through a given place.

Equator is the circle on Earth's surface that separates the Northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere of Earth.  Equator is at 0 deg. latitude.
