Microvilli are found in areas of the body which are specialized for absorption, such as the digestive tract or kidneys. They function by increasing the surface area of the cell membrane, thus allowing for more materials to be absorbed into the cell at a quicker rate. Unlike cilia, microvilli do not move.

\mathscr\purple{HELLO!!}

Each of a large number of minute projections from the surface of some cells is known as Microvilli.

Cilia is a short, microscopic, hairlike vibrating structure. Cilia occur in large numbers on the surface of certain cells, either causing currents in the surrounding fluid, or, in some protozoans and other small organisms, providing propulsion.

DIFFERENCE

Microvilli are non-mortile whereas cilia are motile components. Cilia are used to move the cell bodies and other sweeping processes, whereas microvilli are used in the absorption process. Microvilli are located on the surfaces of the columnar epithelial cells of the small intestine and kidney tubule.

HOPE IT HELPS YOU.
