MILK TEETH
The teeth that occurs just after 6-7 months of a new born baby is known as Milk teeth.
- The size of milk teeth is smaller as compared to that of permanent teeth because they don't fit in jaws.
- They are 20 in number in both the jaws.
- The enamel is thinner and soft. This is reason why the bacteria in sweet and sour food taken by the child lead to rampant caries in kids.
- They don't have much restivity to highly sour, sweet and spicy food.
- It have large pulp chambers rich in blood and blood vessels
PERMANENT TEETH
Once the milk falls off, the teeth which remain till at the end of our life is known as permanent teeth.
- The size of permanent teeth is larger and broader as compared to milk teeth.
- They are 32 in number. We also have two pairs of premolars in each jaw and one pair of third molars in each jaw, taking the count to a total of 32 teeth.
- The enamel is thicker and stronger. This saves our teeth from highly sour or sweet food.
- They have small pulp chambers but the blood vessels can easily rich to supply blood.
When do they fall off?
Milk teeth is temporary because when we are born, the jaws are small and the gums are tender. Hence, the permanent occur in our childhood at the age of 6-8 years. The occurrence of new teeth like new sets of pre-molars and molars also takes place.
