what is the difference between mitosis and meiosis?

Mitosis gives two nuclei, and hence two cells, while meiosis gives four. Mitosis gives identical cells to each other and to the mother cell, while meiosis leads to genetic variation due to crossing over and independent assortment.

during mitosis two daughter cells are produced while in meiosis four daughter cells are produced .

mitosis produce diploid cell where as meiosis produce haploid cell.

mitosis produce duplicate of mother cell but meiosis leads to genetic variations
