QUESTION:-
What is the difference between mono-cropping and multi-cropping?
ANSWER:-
THE Difference Between Mono-cropping And Multi-cropping
- Mono-cropping is a form of cultivation that is based on cultivating only one variety of a crop at one time in a particular field. Whereas multi-cropping is a form of cultivation which involves the cultivation of two or more varieties on the same piece of land where the growth cycles of other varieties co-occur for some duration.
- Multi-cropping is more beneficial for the population as the contributions to farming multi-cropping are more compared to simplified mono-cropping which has only a single or twice crop rotation at a particular time.
- In multi-cropping, the plants of different varieties interact with each other at different growth stages. Whereas in mono-cropping there is a threat of transfer of residual pests, diseases, and weeds from one season to another.
