A wildlife sanctuary is a preservation of habitat specifically for the animals.

A national park is a publicly owned, government controlled, preservation of land for the people and the animals. The government will not allow development inside a national park. The land is usually pristine and unspoiled. Sometimes there is a significant historical element that is being preserved.

National Park- It is a bigger area for conservation of wildlife, fauna, flora. It is divided into two zones(1)Core Zone and (2)Buffer Zone.In Core Zone human activity like collecting forest products are completely prohibited while in in Buffer Zone some acivities are permited.National Park is a multipurpose project.

Wildlife Sanctuary- It is a smaller area for protection of wildlife. It is not divided into zones but here animals are protected in their natural habitat and hunting poaching is prohibited. It is a single purpose project.
