The nij cultivaiton is one of the most prominnent method of cultivation of ingigo in regions of begal. under this system, the  planter who is cultivating indigo  will take some labours with him and plant it in his own land or in the rented land of the zamindars.

In ryoti system, the planters agents  force the farmers or the village headman   to sign an agrement called satta. and they get a loan  with less interest, in the condition of planting 25% of indigo in the land they own.
