Nod and Nodi are both used to denote rivers. However, in our country, there is a practice of referring to some rivers in the masculine form and others in the feminine form. Rivers that are categorized as male are called Nod and those that fall under the female category are known as Nodi.

The Brahmaputra and Damodar rivers are examples of Nod rivers, whereas Godavari, Ganga, Sarawati and Yamuna are instances of Nodi rivers.

So, basically these terms of nod and nodi both refer to the river but represent the different genders of the rivers.
