Normal elements are s and p blockelements and transition elements are those which come between them i.e. d block elements and f block elementsare known as inner transition elements. They are like the gateway from s block to p block.

But in transition elements the last electron goes to 2nd last shell i.e. ( n- 1) shell 'n' is outer most shell.
