Hey there !
So, something like: "My appointment was a 8, but I arrived at 7:55, in time to wash my face before the meeting". "Ontime" means that you arrived when you were supposed to: "My meeting was a 8, but I wasn't exactly on time, I was 5 minutes early". "In the nick of time" means without any time to spare.
Hope it helps you !

ON TIME====
On time means that there is a specific time established when something is supposed/expected to happen, and it is happening at the planned time.
EX===The flight is scheduled to leave at 10:30 AM.
