Osmosis :

  • When the solvents molecules moves it is called as osmosis.
  • Movement happens from "lower concentration region" to "higher concentration region".
  • It requires a semi-permeable membrane.
  • Happens only in liquid.

Diffusion :

  • When the solute molecules moves it is called as diffusion.
  • Movement happens from "higher concentration region" to "lower concentration region".
  • It doesn't require a semi-permeable membrane.
  • Happens in liquid as well as gas.
