Two leading forms of direct democracy are participatory democracy and deliberative democracy. Both want the people to have a role in governance. People are the main actors in both forms. Participatory democracy empowers the people to take decisions, define policies, appoint government officials etc. Deliberative democracy make people to deliberate all issues and matters as equals regardless of their status and standing in life to arrive at a consensus to govern the country.
