Permanent settlement was introduced in Bihar and Bengal.It was introduced in 1793 by lord Cornwallis . The land revenue was fixed.Zamindari System was introduced by Cornwallis in 1793 through Permanent Settlement Act.Under this system, the Rajas and talaqdars were recognised as zamindars and were made the owner of the land and were supposed to pay a fixed amount of revenue.

Ryotwari System was introduced in Bombay and Madras.It was introduced in1820 by Thomas Munro. The land revenue was fixed.In Ryotwari System the ownership rights were handed over to the peasants. British Government collected taxes directly from the peasants.The ryotwari system, instituted in some parts of British India.
