Solar cells and photodiodes are much same type of PV device producing electrical energy through exposure to sunlight. The only major difference is in size. Solar cells are of much larger area than the photodiodes.Photodiodes are used in electonics as components.Whereas solar cells are used mainly to generate power by converting sunlight into electrical energy.Hope this helped u
