Population density is a quantity of number of people in an area. it is calculated by dividing number of individual to given area Whereas population distribution is the area or pattern in which individual live or survive. there are two types of area : 1) sparely populated where less individual live  2) densely populated where more individual live.

Population density and population distribution are the key factors to determine the total population of species.

  • Population distribution in simple terms means, the pattern of where people or animals live in an area, location, etc.
  • In distribution, the exact value is not determined but the spatial pattern is focused. The population distribution is uneven in terms of the human population.
  • For example, crocodiles are widely distributed in the Sahara of South Africa.
  • Population density means the number of people or animals in a particular area or location. It gives an exact value and helps in determining the total population in a given area.
  • For example, crocodiles distributed in the Sahara are said to have a total population of 178.
