The reflex action is an organism's response to stimuli through the reflex arc.It is an involuntarily movement of the part of an organism in response to a stimuli and usually occurs very quickly in matters of fractions of seconds.

On the other hand, reflex arc is the path that nerve impulses follow in order to produce a reflex action. The reflex arc includes; receptor organ, afferent nerve, nerve center, efferent nerve, effector organ/muscle.

Answer:

Reflexes are uncontrollable movements that happen almost instantly in response to a stimuli. Neuronal circuits known as reflex arcs can respond to an impulse before the impulse reaches the brain, enabling reflexes. Therefore, the difference between the two is that reflex arc is the nerve pathway that is involved in a reflex action.

Explanation:

  • Reflexes are uncontrollable movements that happen almost instantly in response to a stimuli.
  • Neuronal circuits known as reflex arcs can respond to an impulse before the impulse reaches the brain, enabling reflexes. The sense organ that detects danger in case of a reflex is the receptor.
  • Reflex arcs connect a motor nerve with a sensory nerve. These are the brain connections that underlie reflex actions. Reflex arc consists of:
  1. Receptor or sensory organ
  2. Sensory neuron
  3. Reflex centre (brain or spinal cord)
  4. Motor neuron
  5. Effector (muscle or gland).
