PHOTOSYNTHESIS: A complex process through which green parts of the plants synthesize organic food in the form of carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll

~~~RESPIRATION...~~~ 

*Respiration is the process by which chemical energy stored in the food is released in the form of ATP along with carbon dioxide and water. Respiration involves exchange of gases i.e. oxygen with carbon dioxide. 
Respiration takes place only during night in plants. In plants, carbon dioxide and oxygen are exchanged through the stomata by diffusion. Respiration in plants is just opposite to that of photosynthesis. 
C6H12O6  +  6O2 --------> 6CO2 + H2O + EnergY

*Respiration can take place both in plants and animals

*Respiration can be aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration

* Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize food from carbon dioxide and water. Green plants absorb carbon dioxide from air and water from the soil. In the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll they synthesize starch as food. They release oxygen as a by-product.
6CO2 + H2O         -------->C6H12O6   + 6O2
Carbon dioxide + 6H2O     -------------->   Glucose + Oxygen

* Photosynthesis cannot take place in animals. 

*Photosynthesis involves light phase and dark phase.
