Respiration is the biochemical process in which the cells of an organism obtain energy by combining oxygen and glucose, resulting in the release of carbon dioxide, water, and ATP

Oxidation is any chemical reaction that involves the moving of electrons. Specifically, it means the substance that gives away electrons is oxidized.

maya30: respiration is also a redox process because O2 is reduced and glucose is oxidized

Respiration is a fundamental process of energy released in a body energy is released by The breakdown of the digested food stuffs during the process of respiration it occurs in all living cells the energy which food stuffs glucose and Fructose are changed to water and seo2 during respiration accompanied with the release of usable energy in the form of ATP.
Process of respiration
For respiration there is a constant supply of oxygen which is provided by the process of breathing it involves taking in oxygen rich air during inhalation step and giving out air rich in carbon dioxide during inhalation step this process is also known as external respiration.
Where as,
Oxidation is the combination of O2 ( oxygen) with water H2O molecules ,it releases electrons in it .
In human body oxidation of food takes place .
So , we may say that when any element whether metal or nonmetal reacts with oxygen it produces a compound called oxide the process of formation of oxides is called oxidation.
Oxides are further divided into four categories.
Oxides bonding with non metals .
1) acidic oxide
2) neutral oxide
Bonding with metals.
1) basic oxides
2) atmospheric oxides.
Anyway, the release of energy due to oxidation of food is called respiration.
Hope it helps!
