Veins are not oriented parallel to one another.
Smaller veins produce a network or reticulum.
It is the characteristic feature of dicotyledons. 
Parallel Venation
Veins are oriented parallel to one another.
A reticulum is not produced.
It is the characteristic feature of monocotyledons.

reticulate venation is found in monocot seed plants and it has fibrous root system which has branched leaves. like paddy has reticulate venation as u see in daily life.

parallel venation is found in dicot seed plants and it has tap root system which has unbranched leaves. like maize , jowar etc as u see in u r daily life....
