Polytropic process is a very general kind of process given by the equation PV^n =constant. ... Whereas, if n=gamma which is approximately equal to 1.4 the processis adiabaticAdiabatic process can be considered to be the process where no heat transfer can take place across the boundary.

in reversible Adiabatic process the heat transfer to or from the system is zero i.e Q=0 While in Polytropic process the heat transfer cannot be zero and is calculated by the formula: Q=(n-gema)/(gema-1)*w

ayeshasarwar24: not satisfied
ayeshasarwar24: how can we calculate adiabatic work for steam?
azamhussain767: lakh di....
azamhussain767: W=(p2v2-p1v1)/(n-1)
ayeshasarwar24: I think for adiabatic gamma is used not n
ayeshasarwar24: w=(p2v2-p1v1) /(gamma - 1) nhi hoga
