What is the difference between REWARD and AWARD ?

Reward is a prize that is given to you for doing something good.

Award is a prize that is given when you participate in a competition or an event and perform well.

For example, a person that saves someone else's life may get a reward.

While a person who scores well in his exams may get a medal as an award.

Award is given for your deed or action....like if you do something outstanding or rare...but reward is given for your service... especially hardwork...
