Squamous epithelium is made up of thin, flat, polygonal cells.
They are having disc like structure.
The nucleus is rounded, bulging and centrally located.
They form a structure as that of a floor tile .
The squamous epithelium are of two types :
★ Simple Squamous tissue
★ Stratified Squamous tissue
Location :
They form the lining of nose, pericardial cavity, blood vessels, lung alveoli, coelomic cavity etc .
They are also found in the surface of the skin .
Functions :
• Protection
• Exchange of gases
• Ultrafiltration
• Abrasion
