Simple leaf :
the lamina is entire or maybe incised upto any depth, but not up to the midrib or petiole.
A bud is present at the axil of the petiole.
Eg: mango, peepal
Compound leaf:
Lamina is incised up to the mid rib or petiole, diving it into smaller parts called leaflets.
Bud is present at the axil of the petiole but not that the axil of the leaflets.
Eg: neem, silkcotton, rose.
