what is the difference between speed and velocity

speed is a scaler quantity which have only magnitude.....but, velocity is a vector quantity which have magnitude as well as direction.....

speed of a body is the distance travelled by it per unit time
speed=distance travelled /time taken

velocity of a body is the distance travelled by it per unit time in a given direction
velocity =distance tr.
