✨Traditional dams could only be used for storing the water in the form of reservoir . This means that they served only a single purpose .

✨Multipurpose dams provide many different advantages . In addition to the basic purpose of a dam ,they can also be used for irrigation , electricity generation , fish breeding and inland navigation also . Hence they are called Multipurpose dams .
