Hey mate!!!

A taxon can be defined as the group of organisms occupying a particular taxonomic rank. while a category is the name given to various taxonomic ranks. Therefore, a taxon is a group of organisms (living beings), but a category is only the rank or status of the taxon. For example:

In Class Mammalia, 'Class' is the taxonomic category, while 'Mammalia' is the taxon
