directly proportional-If one value increases then the other value also increases which is proportional to it.

For example:F=ma

If acceleration increases then the force also increases

Inversely proportional-If one value increases then the other value decreases.

Example:C=Q/V

In the above example,If the potential difference decreases then the capacitance increases.

pressure = force / area

as force increases pressure also increases (directly proportional)

but as area increases pressure decreases (indirectly proportional)

in a formula if 1 quantity increases if the other also increases it is called directly proportional

in a formula if 1 quantity increases if the other decreases it is called indirectly proportional
