what is the difference between the images formes on a new utensil and old one ? why is the differnce observed?

images r clear in new and blur in old

New utensils have an almost fully reflective surface as their surfaces are flat and scratch-free,due to which they bounce light equally in all directions. Old utensils have rust or tiny scratches that tends to reflect light in particular directions(making them look less shiny).
