What is the difference between the lithosphere and the biosphere? Being that both the lithosphere & the biosphere in science research are both the outermost layer of a planets rocky surface, what sets them apart?

The word Lithosphere means land and rocks. The word Atmosphere means the thin envelope of air surrounding the earth. The word Hydrosphere means Water. And finally, Biosphere is the sphere which consists of all these 3 spheres - Litho, Atmo and Hydro. This biosphere is the reason humans live on the Earth
