Answer:

Map 1 and Map 2 represent two different times. Map 1 was made in 1154 CE by al-Idrisi, an Arab geographer. This section is a detail of the Indian subcontinent from his larger map of the world. Map 2 was made by a French cartographer in 1720. Both maps are quite different from each other, even though they represent the same area. In Map 1 we find south India at the place where we would expect to find north India and Sri Lanka is the island at the top. The place names are in Arabic. Some familiar places like Kanauj in Uttar Pradesh have been spelled as Qanauj. In comparison to this Map 2 was made nearly 600 later after Map 1. By that time information about the subcontinent had changed a lot. This map appears to be more familiar to us. The coastal areas, particularly, are more detailed.

The difference between the map drawen by al-idrisi and the map drawen by french cartographer

  • An Arab cartographer named al-Idrisi created Map 1 in the year 1154 CE. The Indian subcontinent is highlighted in this portion of his larger global map. A French cartographer created Map 2 around 1720. Even though they both depict the same region, the two maps are very different from one another.
  • Al-maps Idrisi's are completely different from those made nowadays. Al-Idrisi placed South India at the bottom and current North India at the top.
  • Al-chart Idrisi's shows Sri Lanka as an island at the top and south India where one would expect to find north India. Arabic place names are indicated, and some of them are well-known, such as Kanauj in Uttar Pradesh.
  • The British cartographers, who incorporated modern ideas into India's map-making, had an impact on Tibetan and Islamic traditions, which in turn had an impact on Indian traditions. The Survey of India, which was founded in 1767 by the British East India Company, created the first modern maps.
  • In 1154 CE, a French cartographer named Al-Idrisi created a map of India. In the 1720s, a French cartographer created the map. So, six hundred years or approximately 600 years later, a map was created by a French cartographer.
