the motion of a ceiling fan is called as the
rotatory motion as the the blades move along a particular direction attached to an axis
where as in a pendulum it is called as the oscillatory motion
as the hand moves in a to and fro direction

the difference between the motion of a ceiling fan and a pendulum is that the motion of a  fan is a uniform rotational motion but that of a pendulum is a simple harmonic motion

Explanation:

  • in case of a simple harmonic motion the object moves to and fro of its mean position.
  • However in a rotational movement the the object has a particular speed and its direction changes and the direction is equal to the tangent of the point when the object is.
  • The  motion in case of simple harmonic is dependent on the position of the object and the the speed is zero at the extreme position of the simple harmonic motion.
