What is the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates??

Vertebrae: living things having backbone.
invertebrates: living things having no backbone

vertebrates have a distinguished thorax head and abdomen and usually have upto 6 appendages  only. eg; humans
invertebrates do not have the above features distinguished and they usually have a huge number of appendages. eg: millipede
