An infectious entity affecting plants,smaller than virus and consisting only of nucleic acid without a protein coat.

Difference between virus and viroid
Explanation:
- Virus is helical in shape while viroid is spherical in shape.
- The nucleus of virus contain dsRNA,dsDNA, ssRNA,dsDNA while the viroid contain circular ssRNA.
- During replication, virus produces protein but viroid can't produce protein during replication.
- Heat can easily affects the virus while viroid is not affected by heat.
- Virus are of many types that affects different living organisms but viroid only affects the plants.
- Example of virus- EMV, Hepatitis, Influenza virus etc and example of viroids are potato spindle fiber viroid, apple scare viroid etc.
