what is the difference between wave and a ray.

Rays and waves are geometrically different t- of course. The graphical way of a ray is a line and that of a wave is a sinus-wave.

But historically they where mixed up - by Planck, Einstein, Röntgen or Meitner.

Most of their “rays” where found later as EM-waves!
