To Clear this, a recent example of India V/S SriLanka can be taken.
In July-Sep 2017, India had toured Sri lanka to play 3 tests, 5 ODIs and 1 T20.
India Whitewashed them 3–0 in tests, 5–0 in ODIs and 1–0 in T20.
But, India Clean sweeped them 9–0
Whitewash in winning all the matches of one type of series but clean sweep is winning/ not letting the opposition win any match in the series.

Answer:
In cricket ‘white wash’ refers to a situation when a team wins all the matches in a series without letting the opponent win a single match. Take for example in a series a Team A and Team B is playing and Team manages to win all the matches that is 0–5 wins this is called ‘white washing’ the opponent. The term usually came from the American Football and Rugby and was later adopted in cricket. As opposed to it, ‘Clean sweep’ refers to a situation when one team does not get a complete win but win by not letting the other team win. This can be accomplished through ‘A Draw’ or maybe a ‘A tie’ . For instance, in a series Team A and Team B are playing and Team wins the series by 0–3 where in other two matches they ended one match in ‘a draw’ and one in ‘a tie’.
