Difference between xylem parenchyma and phloem parenchyma:

Xylem parenchyma transfers water from the root tip to the shoot part of the plant whereas the phloem parenchyma transfers the food from the site of photosynthesis to various parts of plants in downward direction.

Xylem and phloem are the component of vascular bundle. Xylem is rigid in nature therefore it provides strength to the plant.

Phloem transfers the starch sugar and minerals. The water present in the soil is referred by the root tip due to the force of adhesion and from there it is transferred upward through xylem.

In xylem cells are generally dead where as in phloem the cells are living. Xylem also helps in thickening of wall of stem whereas the wall of phloem is thin.
