Seed germination is the process of a fertilized plant ovary, or seed, developing into a mature plant which starts with imbibing water when the seeds are soaked in water or absorb water from the soil.
Good Quality lentil seeds germinate rapidly and the seedlings emerge quickly.
The moong bean seeds start growing within 2-3 days of planting in a pot. Chickpea or Chola beans also show little visible germination during 24 – 40 hours of imbibitions.
Although the time period for the seed germination of both the seeds is roughly the same, the moong beans are known to grow slightly faster than the chickpea beans.
