anglicists- wanted English to be the medium of instruction during British rule in all institutions for spread of education
orientalists- wanted classical languages such as Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian to be the medium of instruction for spread of education in India.

The orientalist group, led by H H Wilson, wanted the promotion of traditional Indian learning and the propagation of a bit of western science,Using the vernacular languages While The group Known as Anglicists,led by macaulay,did not like this vision.According to them, the knowledge of the East was full of errors and unscientific thoughts.
