Pro means primitive and karyon means nucleus Prokaryotic cells are those cells which have not well developed nucleus
Eu means well developed karyon means nucleus Eukaryotic cells are those cells which have well developed nucleus

eukaryotic cell possess well defined nucleus while prokaryotic cell does not have well defined nucleus. there is nucleoid in prokaryotic cell instead of nucleus. another difference is that eukatyotic cell have membrane bound cell organelles while prokaryotic cell does not have any membrane bound cell organelles.
